UPDATE to Parish -- (1) Fr. Dennis' test came back NEGATIVE, (2) with Gov's Order all Masses / Lit Services moved OUTSIDE again

[Español]

Dear Parishioners,

To update all of you:

(1) My Covid-19 test came back Negative (yea!).  However since by the Covid-19 protocol I still have a couple of days to self-isolate and almost everything that I absolutely need to do I can do from home, I will fulfill the requirements of the protocol, coming back on Thursday evening to celebrate the Spanish Mass (Deacon Tony has conducted three Communion Services in my absence, and I think that should be enough.  Thanks Deacon Tony, Deacon Richard and Fr. Sebastian for taking up the added work in my absence!)

I also believe it is important to fulfill the requirements of the protocol so as to NOT NEEDLESSLY SCARE ANYBODY.  The whole point of the public health protocols is to give confidence to the community that  those individuals previously infected (or previously showing objective symptoms) can return safely back into the community, this especially because:

(2) In response to a surge in new cases across the country, across California and even across Southern California, Governor Newsom yesterday moved most of the State of California, including Orange County back to the most restrictive step on the COVID-19 scale.

As such by order of the Diocese of Orange, ALL group / liturgical activities are moved outside, including Mass (both daily and Sunday), Baptisms, Weddings, Quinceaneras and the hearing of Confessions, until further notice.

Please folks, once again, take advantage of the live-streaming of Mass that we conduct each day.  We will also continue our practice on Sundays at 10 AM to give Communion to those who follow a Mass livestreamed by us, or on EWTN, “Radio Maria” etc.

Yes, this is all a challenge.  However, we’re becoming more and more aware that there were other times in our Church’s history that due to illness – plague – liturgical services were altered for a time for the sake of protecting the population.  Further, with the announcement of the successful completion the clinical trials of not one but two COVID vaccines, we now know that there is appearing a true “Light at the end of the Tunnel.”  Let’s just “hang in there” for the next several months and do our best to keep each other safe.

May God bless you all and may through the mercy of God and the Intercession of Our Lady and all the Saints, this Coronavirus crisis come soon to an end.

-- Fr. Dennis
