Fr Dennis' Comedy Movie Selections (for ADULTS) -- Pandemic Edition ;-)


Hi folks,

 Yesterday, I was asked by a Deacon of ours, "Hey Father, you used to write about movies.  Come up with a list of Comedy movie suggestions for us PLEASE NOTHING HARD OR DEPRESSING.  My wife and I have pretty much burned through our Netflix Queue..."

 SO ... challenged ... 

 Here are 15-20 movie selections that most folks NEVER WOULD HAVE HEARD OF but WILL NEVER FORGET after seeing them AND ... they're all on Amazon Prime Video ;-)

 A couple of caveats:  

 (1) This is a list for adults.  There are all sorts of movies for kids, teens and young adults (late teens, early 20s) that I would recommend.  These movies here I'd recommend to our marrieds, 35 and up.  

 (2) A LOT of these movies are pretty obscure (but boy am I happy that they are available now on Amazon Video ;-).  As such, SOME of the reviews I've written, say far more than I would have written if I had believed that I wasn't writing "obituaries" -- great film, WONDERFUL FILM, too bad that NO ONE WILL EVER SEE IT ...   So SOMETIMES, read two three paragraphs and stop, see the movie, and go back.  

 (3) I list the films in Alphabetical Order, but PLEASE _don't see them in that order_.  I _love_ the 3 Idiots but I would not want the rest of the list judged by simply that movie.  Instead, browse ...

Interfaith Prayer Service on Zoom, Tues, Aug 8th at 12:15 PM for the 47 People "Without Fixed Abode" who died in July 2023 in OC

   All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service on Tuesday,  Aug 8th at 12:15 PM for the 47 people who died "Without Fixed Abode" in OC in July, 2023 as well as the 1 other person who had died in June, 2023 but had still gone unrecorded last month.   Zoom info below. The 48 person death toll continues the sad record breaking pace for the year.  All told, 308 people "without fixed abode" have already died in the County this year, a number 10% higher than the then record breaking 288 people who had died last year at this point in time.   If things do not change, then 528 people "without fixed abode will have died in the County by the end of the year an equivalent of 9.2% of the County's homeless population (counted to be 5718 in the last PIT Count conducted in January 2022) having died in this County by the end of the year.
