A total of 328 people "without fixed abode" have died here in OC since the beginning of the year, or over 5.7% of the County's beginning of the year homeless population (by the federally mandated 2022 PIT Count ).   At the current rate, between 8-10% of Orange County's beginning of the year homeless population will be dead by year's end. All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service for OC's homeless deceased on Tuesday, Aug 9th at 12:15 PM  Another record FIFTY ONE (51) people without fixed abode died in OC in July.  The previous one month record was 46 set this January and February.   Some 287 people without fixed abode have died here since the beginning of the year or a full 5.0% of the Beginning of Year Homeless Population of OC (if one accepts the 2022 PIT Count of 5718 people who were homeless counted in OC in January).   If the trend continues by the end of September the number of homeless deaths will exceed the full year total of 381 for last year (then a record year) with A FULL QUARTER OF THE YEAR TO GO.   Fr.   Hello, All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service for OC's homeless deceased.  NOTE THE DATE CHANGE (just this month)- Tuesday, July 19th at 12:15 PM  Last month, 31 people who died "without fixed abode" (homeless) in OC.  For the year thus far the total is 236.  Last year at this time the total was 185, in 2020 the number was 151, and in 2019, the last year before the onset of the COVID crisis, the number was 98.  Indeed, in 2019, the total number of deaths among those "without fixed abode" for the entire year was 209. So with six months, a 1/2 year to go, the number of homeless deaths has already exceeded the number of deaths for the whole of 2019, the last year before COVID.   Thus the homeless death rate has effectively doubled since the onset of COVID.  At this rate, the number of homeless deaths for the year is projected at 472.   By the County's 2022 PIT Count, such that it was, there were 5718 people who ...

Tuesday, April 12th at 3 PM -- NOTE THE SPECIAL TIME Another 31 people died "without fixed abode" in OC in March 2022, continuing a terrible year.  While for the first time this year, the number of deaths for the month equaled what it was last year, the total number of deaths for the year at this point is 123, while last year, which was a record year the number was 100.  So unless the shadows change, we remain on pace for another, terrible, record year for deaths among those living "without fixed abode" here in Orange County. Tuesday, March 8th at 12:15 PM Another 46 people died "without fixed abode" in OC in February 2022.  This ties the record number of deaths in a month's time set only last month.   Additionally, last February the number of deaths among those who were "without fixed abode" was 29 and the previous two years, 2019 and 2020, the number of deaths for February were 20.  So last month's death rate among those "without fixed abode" in OC was more than double (230%) pre-pandemic levels.
