Interfaith Prayer Service on Zoom, June 19th at 12:15 PM -- NOTE THIS MONTH'S DATE CHANGE -- for the People "Without Fixed Abode" who died in June 2022 in OC

All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service for OC's homeless deceased. 

NOTE THE DATE CHANGE (just this month)- Tuesday, July 19th at 12:15 PM 

Last month, 31 people who died "without fixed abode" (homeless) in OC.  For the year thus far the total is 236.  Last year at this time the total was 185, in 2020 the number was 151, and in 2019, the last year before the onset of the COVID crisis, the number was 98.  Indeed, in 2019, the total number of deaths among those "without fixed abode" for the entire year was 209.

So with six months, a 1/2 year to go, the number of homeless deaths has already exceeded the number of deaths for the whole of 2019, the last year before COVID.  

Thus the homeless death rate has effectively doubled since the onset of COVID.  At this rate, the number of homeless deaths for the year is projected at 472.  

By the County's 2022 PIT Count, such that it was, there were 5718 people who were homeless in the County.  Thus 4.1% of the County's homeless population has already died since the beginning of the year and 8.2% of the county's homeless population will be dead by the end of the year.

   All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service on Tuesday,  Aug 8th at 12:15 PM for the 47 people who died "Without Fixed Abode" in OC in July, 2023 as well as the 1 other person who had died in June, 2023 but had still gone unrecorded last month.   Zoom info below. The 48 person death toll continues the sad record breaking pace for the year.  All told, 308 people "without fixed abode" have already died in the County this year, a number 10% higher than the then record breaking 288 people who had died last year at this point in time.   If things do not change, then 528 people "without fixed abode will have died in the County by the end of the year an equivalent of 9.2% of the County's homeless population (counted to be 5718 in the last PIT Count conducted in January 2022) having died in this County by the end of the year.    All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service on Tuesday,  Oct 10th at 12:15 PM for the 51 people who died "Without Fixed Abode" in OC in August, 2023 as well as the 2 other people who had died in previous months but had still gone unrecorded until now.   Zoom info below. The 53 person death toll continues the sad record breaking pace for the year.  All told, exactly 400 people "without fixed abode" have already died in the County this year, with three months to go.   If things do not change, then 533 people "without fixed abode will have died in the County by the end of the year an equivalent of 9.3% of the County's homeless population (counted to be 5718 in the last PIT Count conducted in January 2022) having died in this County by the end of the year.
