Interfaith Prayer Service on Zoom, Tues, June 14 th at 12:15 PM for the 43 People "Without Fixed Abode" who died in May 2023 in OC

   All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service on Tuesday,  June 14h at 12:15 PM for the 43 people who died "Without Fixed Abode" in OC in May, 2023 as well as the 1 other person who had died in March, 2023 but had still gone unrecorded last month.   Zoom info below. The 43 person death toll for May brings us back to the record breaking death tolls of last year.  Indeed,  with the exception of a welcome one month dip last month, year to date the death count among those "without fixed abode" is 10% higher (227 vs 205) for this year over last year. To put it in perspective, if one takes the 2022 PIT seriously, nearly 4% (3.96%) of the County's 5718 person homeless population has already died since the beginning of the year, and we are on track for a full 9.5% of the County's homeless population dying by the end of the year. 24 Hours with the Lord - Corpus Christi Weekend - Fri June 9 at 6 PM to Sat June 10 at 5 PM

  Dear Parishioners, This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).  This celebration definitively ends the “extraordinary” part of our Liturgical year.  During the week we’ve already been celebrating days of Ordinary Time since the Solemnity of Pentecost.  However, from next Sunday onward to the Solemnity of Christ the King at the end of November even our Sunday celebrations will be overwhelmingly those of Ordinary Time. But we end the “extraordinary” part of our Liturgical year remembering Jesus’ mandate to his Apostles at the Last Supper: “Do this in Memory of Me.”  And so we do … The Solemnity of the Corpus Christi along with attendant processions entered into the Church’s Liturgical Calendar during the time of the Reformation.  It seeks to underline the importance that the Church has given to fulfill what Jesus asked of us to do, and to take seriously Jesus’ words that the elements of bread and wine brought to the celebration of the Euchar
