IMPORTANT MODIFICATION in the EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTION at ST. PHILIP BENIZI'S this Saturday, May 2, 2020 11 AM - 1 PM


Okay folks,

Because there have been a lot of questions, sincere ones, and worries, about how this distribution is going to work and the organizers themselves have gotten a bit nervous too -- it's become bigger than they thought it would be -- to limit things, some important changes are going to be made:

First, this is going to be restricted to people who are local.  So don't be surprised if you're asked where you live.  A couple of us from the parish will be helping with checking on this as well.

It may seem obvious to everyone now, this is no joke, it's clear now that there is a big need for this.

Then if they run out of food stuffs to give out, they'll at least offer you the opportunity to leave your name, contact info for "the next time" either here or elsewhere.

It's a good group, it's just clear that the need is bigger than most of us would have imagined.

Interfaith Prayer Service on Zoom, Tues, Aug 8th at 12:15 PM for the 47 People "Without Fixed Abode" who died in July 2023 in OC

   All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service on Tuesday,  Aug 8th at 12:15 PM for the 47 people who died "Without Fixed Abode" in OC in July, 2023 as well as the 1 other person who had died in June, 2023 but had still gone unrecorded last month.   Zoom info below. The 48 person death toll continues the sad record breaking pace for the year.  All told, 308 people "without fixed abode" have already died in the County this year, a number 10% higher than the then record breaking 288 people who had died last year at this point in time.   If things do not change, then 528 people "without fixed abode will have died in the County by the end of the year an equivalent of 9.2% of the County's homeless population (counted to be 5718 in the last PIT Count conducted in January 2022) having died in this County by the end of the year.
