The 47 deceased last month corresponds to an unfortunate "new normal" of the County for this time of year.  In December, 47 people also died on our streets.  In January of last year 46 people had died.  To appreciate how much the death toll has increased over the last several years, 40 people died "without fixed abode" in OC in January 2021 and only 20 and 14 had died in 2020 and 2019 respectively.   So some three times as many people "without fixed abode" have been dying in recent years on our streets in January as were dying in 2019.      Fr. All are invited to a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service for OC's homeless deceased on Tuesday, Aug 9th at 12:15 PM  Another record FIFTY ONE (51) people without fixed abode died in OC in July.  The previous one month record was 46 set this January and February.   Some 287 people without fixed abode have died here since the beginning of the year or a full 5.0% of the Beginning of Year Homeless Population of OC (if one accepts the 2022 PIT Count of 5718 people who were homeless counted in OC in January).   If the trend continues by the end of September the number of homeless deaths will exceed the full year total of 381 for last year (then a record year) with A FULL QUARTER OF THE YEAR TO GO.   Fr.
